Installation Guide
Prerequisites
- Blender Version: 5.0 or later
- Operating System: Windows, macOS, or Linux
- System Requirements: Standard Blender requirements (see Blender System Requirements)
Installation Methods
Method 1: Drag and Drop
- Drag and drop the addon
.zipfile into Blender's window
Method 2: Classic Addon Installation
- Download the PolyPlanar addon (.zip file or latest release)
- Open Blender
- Go to Edit > Preferences
- Navigate to the Add-ons tab on the left sidebar
- Click the Install... button in the top right
- Select the downloaded
.zipfile - Search for "PolyPlanar" in the add-ons list
- Check the checkbox next to PolyPlanar to enable it
Verification
To verify PolyPlanar is installed correctly:
- Open or create a Blender project
- Switch to the Shader Editor workspace
- Create a new material (or select an existing one)
- Press
Shift+Ato open the Add menu - Navigate to PolyPlanar - you should see PolyPlanar options
If you see the PolyPlanar options available, the installation was successful!
Troubleshooting Installation
Add-on appears but won't enable
- Check the Blender console for error messages
In the Add-on Preferences
- Toggle ON "Print Messages to Console" and record a video using the add-on while the messages are spawning. Send us the video and that will allow us to have a clue on what is going wrong.
Uninstallation
- Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons
- Search for "PolyPlanar"
- Click the arrow to expand it, then click the Remove button
- Restart Blender (optional but recommended)
